Yatala is one of the northern-most suburbs of the Gold Coast. Named by Arthur Dixon in 1868 when he purchased land surrounded by the Albert River. The area is rapidly developing as an industrial wonderland due to its large blocks of land and convenient location. One of the most famous landmarks is the Yatala Pie Shop that started in 1914 and is a Q150 icon. Another famous landmark is The Yatala Drive-In as it is the Gold Coast’s last open-air drive-in theatre, it opened on 27 October 1974.
